achieved (:

Posted by jennihsurf on Dec 4, 2008 in Yoga

one thing i like A LOT about yoga, is how good it felt after a certain pose is achieved.

i have never rushed any poses that i cant do, because i guess im too scared that i will end up injured, knowing how lady luck is 99.9% not with me most of the time.

But guess what.. sometimes perseverence really do pays off with patience and A LOT of stretching :)

I remember last year, i scream out loud that i will NEVER EVER FOREVER will not be able to do a split (hanumasana).

Guess what?

:D

I overcomed my fear and i have achieved it! :) I can do a split! and it was actually no sweat at all! :D, In fact, NO PAIN as well :D

All these while, my biggest fear was that this pose might be too painful to achieve, that i might break a leg or something. But i guess my biggest lesson of all is letting go. and knowing that impossible is nothing. and nothing is impossible. i slowly let my legs glide down the mat and voila, a front split is achieved. Next, i deepen the stretch by bending forward, a forward bend split. The sensation from the stretch is priceless. :)

i keep thinking how time can change everything.

last year, i couldnt have my head touching the ground each time i do the Prasaritta padottanasana and variations (wide legged forward bend). my head is always a few inches off the ground and that made me wonder, what possibly can i do so that my head can rest on the ground while i savour the stretch from my waist.

Well, i guess there’s no shortcut to any pose. The best way to master it, is to breathe deeply, and then stretch your body forward,  then downward, as deep as you can, and before you know it, your head will touch the ground, and you can view the world, upside down , inside out. :) The feeling, trust me, is very rewarding AND relaxing :D

Last year, i had trouble mastering the Padangusthasana (Big Toe Pose). Partially because my legs were longer than my body. I guess it is one of the reason why i have to bend my leg a lot in class instead of stretching it all out because my legs were longer than my hands. a LOT =.=”

Somehow, i have overcomed that issue of me having long legs and hence, deeper stretching but.. more excitement when i have finally achieved what i first thought would be preposterous.

This is something, i wish i can do someday , am praticing for it currently :)

Astavakrasana (Eight-Angle Pose). Strong arms!

There is still a lot for me to learn, to achieve, to master. And i wish my journey towards achievement would be fruitful, and a pleasurable one :)

yoga, for health. :)

my neck hurts

Posted by jennihsurf on Nov 5, 2008 in Yoga

i think having too many pillows on a bed is not a good thing. sometimes when i wake up in the morning i find myself in the weirdest position ever. My body upside down. my hand under my legs wtf. my legs up my face wtf. that kinda thing.

and also the pillows.. they are everywhere. a few days back i woke up with 2-3 pillows under my head. i slept in a sitting position i think. and then the next thing i know.. my neck kinda hurt badly. like a sprained ankle kinda pain. the muscle kept pulling and my head just feel so heavy like  it’s been ripped off my shoulders like that.

ouch.

but then now it’s ok already lah. went to yoga class to sweat it out. feel so much better.

off course knowing me… the above is much exaggeration than fact mmkays.

Between the transition of the bow pose and wheel pose, my breathing got pretty calm. I was sweating all over, my face red from the hot breathing technique from YZ, yet i felt my heartbeat. I guess it’s my first time.

I felt so calm inside, as i feel my breathing massaging my heart, my heartbeat controled by my every breathe, my chest slowly exhaling and inhaling in comfort while i stretch to yoga core.

I sudenly remembered why i feel so different yesterday. When i walk into class, i place a huge baggage outside the door. It was an invincible baggage of all work, stress, drama, problems, thoughts and issues. I placed it out of the class before i walk into class with just one thing in mind. To allow my body to sink into my mat and that is the only thing that mattered.

Yoga is not about being able to achieve a certain position. Yoga is not a competition. Yoga knows no limits. Impossible is nothing. and nothing, is impossible. as i lay in savasana, my mind wondered to teachings of Ninie, Azmi, Mauricio, Ethan, and a few others back in YZ. i smiled for i have got the blessings to attend their class, even if my journey is in a diff route now.
